Ahead of imminent cabinet reshuffle, the Somali President approved the nomination of Yusuf Ibrahim Hassan as the new Somali foreign minister.
Minister Hassan held the post in the past and is a seasoned Somali diplomat, former Somali Air Force Commander and he served as Somalia’s ambassador to China among other postings.
Right after his approval, the new foreign minister flew to Addis Ababa to represent Somalia in the upcoming summit of IGAD, the sub regional body for the seven countries in the Horn of Africa.
The Somalia situation is the main agenda of the Summit.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali-Sharmarke who nominated him for the post and the Speaker of the Parliament.
The Prime Minister will announce the rest of his new cabinet anytime now.
