Bartamaha (Mogadishu):- A fresh bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, has left at least five soldiers dead and six others wounded, two days after a bomb attack on the city’s airport.
The incident occurred on Saturday when a roadside bomb went off in the South of the capital, killing the five Somali government soldiers.
“The five soldiers were killed when a bomb placed on a well-traveled road in the Waberi neighborhood exploded, and six others including civilians were wounded,” AFP quoted police officer Abdisalam Mohamed as saying.
Somali police said that they have also foiled a suicide attack at Mogadishu seaport.
On Thursday, twin bomb blasts went off at the main entrance of Mogadishu airport, leaving at least 14 people dead and several others wounded.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has declared that at least 230 civilians have lost their lives in Somalia over the past two weeks.
Somalia has been grappling with a deadly civil war that began after the collapse of its central government and the ouster of Mohammed Siad Barre in 1991.
