somali-piratesBartamaha__Somali pirates have seized a Vietnamese-owned cargo ship off the coast of Oman, reports said. The bulk carrier has a 24-member crew on board.

The MV Hoang Son Sun was attacked about 520 nautical miles outside of the port of Omani capital Muscat. The ship flies with a Mongolian flag.

The vessel, which weighs 22,835-tons, was transporting cattle feed for a Chinese company from Iran.

The European Union Naval Force says the ship is not registered with maritime authorities responsible for helping prevent pirate attacks.

There are currently 30 vessels and 724 hostages being held by pirates off the coast of Somalia.
