BARTAMAHA (SEOUL):- Seven South Korean sailors rescued after a week of captivity by Somali pirates have returned home and been reunited with their families.
The men were among 21 Asian crew members aboard a South Korean-operated cargo ship that was hijacked by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea on Jan. 15.
A week later, they were rescued by South Korean commandos who killed eight Somali pirates and captured five others.
None of the crew members was injured except for the South Korean captain, who was shot in the stomach by a pirate. He was brought to South Korea on Saturday.
South Korea’s coast guard says the rest of crew — two Indonesians and 11 Myanmar citizens — are staying in Oman.
