Its beautiful to see the Residence of the Somali Ambassador in Nairobi, Kenya be in the hands of Somali government and its people once again after it was illegally and wrongfully sold in 1994 by a rouge and rather selfish ambassador Axmed who was running away to claim asylum in Europe.
This magnificent peace of land was purchased by Somali government in 1972 and registered at Kenya government in 1973 when the late Ambassador Mr: Hashi Abdalla was stationed in Nairobi, it was Ambassador Abdalla who negotiated on behalf of the Somali government back in 1972 for the purchase of this land from an Indian businessman living in Kenya.
A huge thank you and gratitude goes to the last Counsel General in Nairobi the late Mr. Muse Fahiye and his senior deputy Mr: Mohamed Omar Gange whom were arrested by Kenya police inside the residence after they refused to vacate the premises because they knew the sale of the property was illegal done by a run away Ambassador who was not authorized to do so by a Somali government, and since there was none in Mogdishu in 1990s the sale was 100% illegal.
Kenya government and its police should known the international diplomatic rules and never should have enter the Somali residence let alone arrest a diplomat inside and never allowed the sale to go through, that peace of land while its in Nairobi, Kenya its the property of Somali government like wise the Kenya Embassy in Mogdishu,Somalia is the property of Kenya, its an internationally recognize diplomatic law, also you can’t arrest and prosecute a diplomat but you can kick him/her out of your country. Nevertheless the late Mr. Fahiye and Mohamed Omar Gange and many Somali nationalist and businessmen in Kenya and Somali lawyers wage war against the person who bought the place and Kenya government for allowing the sale to go through and not protecting the property of Somali government as a good host nation would as many nations like USA did when Somali government collapsed, they took their case through the court and it took for 16 yrs to bring back the residence into the hands of Somali people, they went through financial hard times, they failed couple of times but the remarkable thing about them is that they were driven by passion and love for their country and its assets and therefore never gave up until they succeeded. They have shown true patriotism and we salute them so will history insha-allah.
This house must be rebuild to the point as it once stood tall at the edge of West-lands and Spring-valley area in Nairobi.
At least 8 Somali Ambassadors lived through the years since its purchased, many children were raised in this house as some are seen in this video, many happy occasions were held in this house and lots of Somali dignitaries on their way to African countries or Kenya for international meetings stayed over in this house, many ordinary Somalis went through its doors for a stay or have a dinner or say hello to the ambassador or his family on Eid days and national celebrations just like any other Somali Embassy elsewhere when we had government.
I was told President Mohamed Siyad Barre (a.h.n) came to this house once for dinner and meetings while he was staying at Serena Hotal during his visit to Kenya and met Somali diaspora and their families in Nairobi in this house.
With unity and absolute patriotism and dedication we Somalis can go along way and achieve may good things like this one, we can easily rebuild our nation and be the strongest nation in east Africa we once were.
Somalis by nature are smart and can achieve what ever they try, Africans and white people who came to know us lately will tell you that, and we know our talent, but we have a disease that no doctor can cure it and, no medicine is available to get rid off it, its called “qabiil”, if we can put that aside we will become supper nation. Viva somalia.
