Fatal food riots in Somalia
Somali forces have opened fire during food riots in Mogadishu, leaving at least two people dead.
Two people are reported to have been killed and several injured when troops opened fire in the Somalia capital of Mogadishu on thousands of rioters protesting soaring food prices. Monday’s protest started with a march by women and children complaining about the refusal of traders to accept old 1,000-shilling notes, blaming that for skyrocketing food prices.
