Dunkin Donuts Pulls Ad Featuring Rachael Ray In A Scarf That Looks Too MUSLIM!!

Dunkin Donuts has pulled a commercial featuring pitchwoman Rachael Ray wearing a scarf because Michelle Malkin and other conservative observers thought the scarf looked too much like a keffiyeh, what Malkin describes as “the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad.”

The company at first pooh-poohed the complaints, claiming the black-and-white wrap was not a keffiyeh. But the right-wing drumbeat on the blogosphere continued and by yesterday, Dunkin’ Donuts decided it’d be easier just to yank the ad.

Said the suits in a statement: ”In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial.” Read more »

White House Responds To Scott McClellan’s Accusations

WASHINGTON — In a shocking turnabout, the press secretary most known for defending President Bush on Iraq, Katrina and a host of other controversial issues produced a memoir damning of his old boss on nearly every level _ from too much secrecy to a less-than-honest selling of the war to a lack of personal candor and an unwillingness to admit mistakes.

In the first major insider account of the Bush White House, one-time spokesman Scott McClellan calls the operation “insular, secretive and combative” and says it veered irretrievably off course as a result.

The White House responded angrily Wednesday to McClellan’s confessional memoir, calling it self-serving sour grapes.

“Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House,” said current White House press secretary Dana Perino, a former deputy to McClellan. “We are puzzled. It is sad. This is not the Scott we knew.” Read more »

Hillary Clinton: “My Husband Did Not Wrap Up The Nomination” Until June … “Bobby Kennedy Was Assassinated In June” …

Hillary Clinton’s argument for staying in the race took a disturbing turn today. While meeting with the editorial board of South Dakota’s Sioux Falls Argus-Leader, she raised the specter of Obama’s assassination as a reason to stay in the race:

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it.”

Big Rewards Await Clinton If She Ends Campaign Now

by Thomas B. Edsall

She has ruled it out, but a prompt withdrawal from the contest for the Democratic nomination offers Sen. Hillary Clinton the prospect of major rewards.

One of the most inviting is the near certainty that the Obama campaign would agree to pay back the $11.4 million she has loaned her own bid, along with an estimated $10 million to $15 million in unpaid campaign expenses.

In addition, Democrats, both those who are loyal and those who are opposed to her campaign, say the odds of her winning a top leadership spot in the Senate would improve dramatically if she gracefully conceded now. The icing on the cake includes an improved political climate, giving Hillary and Bill Clinton the opportunity to heal the rift with the black political community. Read more »

Clinton Wins Pennsylvania - Update: Speech video added

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton won the Pennsylvania Democratic primary on Tuesday night, defeating Senator Barack Obama in a crucial victory that is likely to keep her presidential campaign alive for the next round of contests.

But it was unclear how big a margin she would eventually reach. With about half of the votes counted, Mrs. Clinton led with 54 percent of the vote to 46 percent for Mr. Obama. Many Democrats had said Mrs. Clinton needed to rack up a convincing victory to continue as a plausible candidate for the nomination. Read more »
