The group put on a workshop at the Downtown Brown County Central library on Saturday.

Organizers say it is important for the community, law enforcement and medical professionals to understand the needs and history of the Somali culture. And in turn the workshop also helps integrate the Somalis into American society.

“It is just to serve both of the cultures basically the American and Somali culture, we also do the same thing for our people to help them understand what the American culture and life expects of them to be good citizens in America,” said workshop organizer Firdosa Hussein.

The group plans to hold another workshop for the community in February.
