Woody Harrelson Scores Winner In Unicef Soccer Aid as England are defeated (VIDEO)
Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson has helped The Rest Of The World beat England at this year’s Soccer Aid match after the match went to penalties.
Over 65,000 fans watched the charity game which saw football legends and celebrities battle it out at Old Trafford.
At full time the score was level on two goals each.
Jamie Redknapp and former England striker Teddy Sheringham put England on top.
But The Rest Of The World fought back with goals from boxer Joe Calzaghe and former Liverpool defender Sammy Hyypia.
In the shootout, England captain and event organiser Robbie Williams missed a crucial penalty as did presenter Jamie Theakston.
Harrelson then beat goalkeeper Theakston from the spot to win the match for The Rest Of The World.
The former Cheers actor joined French footballing legend Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Ryan Giggs along with Gordon Ramsay and actor Michael Sheen.
Austin Powers actor Mike Myers also played as well as Westlife’s Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne who had missed a penalty in the first half.
Joining Williams on the England side was his friend Jonathan Wilkes, X Factor’s Olly Murs, Ricky Hatton, Jamie Redknapp, Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham and Ben Shephard.
The real winner though is children’s charity Unicef which will benefit from the £2.5m raised by the event.
