Watch 3.6 million Dollars nabbed by TFG police in Mogadishu (VIDEO)
Three British nationals, an American and two Kenyans have been arrested at the Mogadishu international airport with bags loaded with $3.6 million USD after they were intercepted by the TFG Police upon their arrival to the country.
Confirming this Somali Police spokesman Abdullahi Hassan Barise said that the money is now under the control of the TFG Ministry of finance until the investigation was complete.
Two of those arrested carried the money to the bank well guarded by the TFG Police and the AMISOM force who made sure the money was in safe hands.
Those arrested are now being held in connection of taking the money to the Somali pirates to free ships that are being held captive in the Somali coast.
SONNA independently verifies that the six men are in the hands of the TFG police and will be dealt with accordingly as per the international standards.
It is believed that the money was meant for the Somali Pirates for the release of ships that have been docked in Hafun, Haradhere and Hobyo where Somali pirates dominate.
Ransoms are normally air dropped to the respective ships that have been hijacked by the Somali pirates but it is odd seeing money being airlifted in light planes in Mogadishu.
Somali pirates frequently collect multimillion ransoms which are delivered in containers attached to a parachute that are pushed off the back of a plane. Decades of conflict in Somalia has allowed piracy to flourish off its coast.
