The new Somali ambassador presents his credentials to US president Obama
United States of America has welcomed the revived ties with Somalia after Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed an ambassador to the US as response to the white house announcement that it will send an ambassador to Somalia.
The president of United Stated of America has received credentials from the new Somali ambassador to the US Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmake.
The Somali new ambassador Sharmake accompanied by his family were accepted at the white house by President Obama, where the ambassador has presented his certificates.
Welcoming the new Somali ambassador Sharmake to United Stated of America State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, “We are pleased to announce the arrival of Ambassador Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, the first Somali ambassador to the United States in over twenty years.”
United stated has closed its embassy in Mogadishu over two decades ago after Somalia’s central government was overthrown.
