Somali Youth of Oregon Final
We, as a Somali people, have one dream – and that dream is to live peacefully and prosper. We value our religion, our culture, our education and our families yet we fail to work hard to secure our future generation from having any of those. Let us not be selfish and leave our kids and future into fending for themselves. There are many youth who are either on the streets, or have been misled through culture shock and their new environment. We cannot continue to be a nation of just poets – we cannot keep talking about our problems or issues, but rather we have to resolve them through action. We have to become a nation of activists. For 20 plus years, we have been left behind while other nations have thrived. We are all brothers and sisters put on this Earth in different tribes and nations so that we may know each other better and grasp a deeper understanding of one another. We have our work ahead of us – let us not leave out to pasture the physical, mental, and spiritual work that has to be done to assure our next generation, so they don’t have the same faults as our generation or the generations before us. Let us involve ourselves and evolve ourselves. Click Here
