Somali President Hails Rival Islamists to Stop Fighting On IDPs
Bartamaha (Mogadishu): — With tense situations between rival Islamists Al shabaab and Hizbul Islam are currently reported in Afgoye corridor where a lot of displaced Somalis live, Sheikh Sharif Shekh, the president of the transitional federal government of Somalia on Thursday called for the two armed factions to stop fighting on the internally displaced people.
The president Ahmed said Al shabaab and Hizbul Islam are organizations created to bother and displace Somali civilians who had been in civil war for more than 19 years.
He went on to say that Somali government is ready to welcome any group which is ready for peace.
Sheikh Ahmed, who was speaking the reporters in Mogadishu, said new battle on displaced Somali people in Afgoye corridor, is needed.
During this week, Al shabaab and Hizbul Islam fought over the control of Bur-hakab,a district in Bay region in southern Somalia. Hundreds of people fled the district, about 110 KM southwest of Mogadishu following the clashes of Islamists antagonists.
