Somali Man Released To Halfway House
Another Somali man awaiting sentencing on a terror-related charge has been released to a halfway house.
Court documents made public Thursday show U.S. District Court Judge James Rosenbaum ordered the release of Salah Osman Ahmed on March 15, with certain conditions. Ahmed was released Tuesday after posting bond.
The FBI is investigating a group of men who left Minnesota to fight with a terror group in Somalia.
Ahmed pleaded guilty in July to one count of providing material support to terrorists. He admitted he spent time in an al-Shabab training camp in Somalia. His attorney has said Ahmed left before al-Shabab was declared a terror group.
Another man, Abdifatah Yusuf Isse, has already been released to a halfway house pending sentencing. Rosenbaum recently approved a petition allowing Isse to go to his sister’s house, under certain conditions.
