Somali man missing after argument with friends
New Zealand — Police are searching for a missing Somali man who was last seen at a central Hawke’s Bay beach over the weekend.
Dau Atem, 22, of Palmerston North was staying with friends at a bach at Shoal Bay, Aramoana.
At around 10pm on Saturday, Mr Atem had a disagreement with the friends. He left the bach and has not been heard from since.
His friends reported him missing yesterday afternoon and police conducted a search of the shoreline and baches in the area.
Mr Atem is described as tall and skinny and was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, grey jeans and was barefoot.
Police are concerned for Mr Atem’s safety and are unsure if he is trying to hitchhike back to Palmerston North or if he is still in the Aramoana area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Eastern District Police on 06 8310700.
