School-feeding program bearing fruit in Somali State
Bartamaha (Nairobi):- The Somali State Education Bureau said the school-feeding program which began 10 years ago to raise primary school enrollment in Somali State has borne tangible results.
Bureau Head Abubeker Mohammed Kelif told WIC today that the program was implemented in 229 schools in six zones of the state.
He said girls’ enrollment has increased, while number of dropouts declined following the implementation of the program.
According to Abubeker, the program pushed the primary education coverage in the state to 63.9 percent last budget year and it is expected to show progress this budget year.
The program will be implemented in 147 primary schools this budget year, he
