Russia will deploy its warships in the Gulf of Aden and near the Horn of Africa on a regular basis to prevent pirate attacks on merchant ships, a Defense Ministry spokesman said on Saturday.
He added that in the past four years, Russian Navy ships have prevented more than 10 pirate attacks and protected lives of over 350 Russian citizens.
