EU ):-Somalia ceased to be a single state after the 1991 fall of the dictatorial regime of Siad Barre.

The country’s internationally recognized federal government controls parts of the nation’s capital and several areas across the country.

The EU Council has decided to extend for another year the mandate of its military mission in Somalia, which is training personnel for the country’s army and security forces. The training will be mainly in neighboring Uganda.
