Bulgaria joins anti-piracy coalition off Somalia shores
Two Bulgarian military personnel will be sent to London, where they will be attached to a unit deployed off the shores of Somalia as part of the task force against piracy in the region, Bulgaria’s Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The Cabinet decided on May 29 that it will participate in the EU task force, thus becoming the sixth country involved in the operation, along with Greece, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
Naval ships from three more European countries are expected to be sent to the troubled region.
The EU task force aims to ensure that humanitarian aid and food will be delivered to beleaguered Somali citizens, to prevent piracy attacks on merchant ships and ensure that the Gulf of Aden and the seas off the coast of Somalia will be safe for seafaring
