Speaker of parliament returns Mogadishu after attending UN Somali meeting
MOGADISHU – Sharif Hassan SheikAden, the speaker of the transitional parliament of Somalia has returned back to the Somali capital Mogadishu, days after attending UN Somali conference concluded in the Nairobi, Kenya.
Mr. Sharif had landed at the international airport of Aden Adde and held press conference in the airport explaining more about his trip and attendance of the conference which the transitional government of Somalia formally refused its attendance earlier.
Sharif said that he had talked more about the Somali matters with the international community there saying he had made them understand the extended period of the Somali parliament in February adding that the parliament was allowed to extend their period for 2 years.
Asked about the decision of the cabinet ministries, president and other sides of Somali population for not attending the conference, the speaker replied that it was not compulsory to consult with any one while traveling to aboard asserting his speech that he saw nothing about the outcome of the Somali people and government.
“I had attended a consultative conference for Somalia in Nairobi, Kenya; I have seen more of the international community, the United Nations who organized the meeting. The conference was concluded with victory. We displayed the extended period of the Somali parliament which the international community disagreed earlier, but they agreed to increase 2 years after justifying it,” said the speaker of the parliament
The cabinet ministers had totally boycotted the attendance of the UN Somali meeting that was held in Nairobi on 12th to 13th April as most of the authorities of the transitional government of Somalia, traditional clerics and population refused to be part of the meeting and preferred to be held in Somalia.
The arrival and statement of the speaker of the parliament of Somalia comes as there is great disagreement between the president and speaker Sharif Hassan Sheik Aden who lastly returned back to Mogadishu on Sunday.
