Atlanta Local Somalis Condemn Actions of Pirates
CLARKSTON, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) – Many Somalis who call Georgia home said Tuesday that they were relieved to see Captain Richard Philips come home unharmed. Some members of Georgia’s Somali community condemned the pirates’ actions and said a lawless government and the men behind the pirating operations are truly to blame for the troubles at sea.
As Captain Richard Philips made his way back home to the U.S., some Somalis in Clarkston praised the Navy Seal snipers who helped rescue the captain.
Hussein Mohamed hosts Sagal radio from DeKalb County, Mohammad said many of his Somali listeners were relived to hear that Philips was rescued and unharmed.
Many Somalis living in Metro Atlanta said they hoped the spotlight on the piracy problem will be broadened to include taking a look into the economic and social problems in the east African nation.
