Somalia forces anti-gov’t fighters out of Hiiran
Somali government troops have entered the country’s Hiiran region, near the capital, after forcing out Al-shabab anti-government fighters from the strategic region, Press TV has learned.
At least 90 people have been killed in the fighting, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Their victory comes after five days of heavy clashes between the local fighters and soldiers in central Somalia.
Government forces also destroyed several Al-Shabab bases in the region.
More than 200-thousand people have fled Mogadishu since fighting broke out between government forces and the local fighters in May.
