Liverpool dad’s shock after terror arrest at Amsterdam airport

crowneplaza-Liverpool-airport-hotelBartamaha (Nairobi):- A FORMER Liverpool dad today told how he was wrongly accused of being a terrorist.

Mohammed Ali Musa described his shock after he was dramatically intercepted by police in Holland.

The 44-year-old was taken into custody and quizzed about suspicions he was travelling to Uganda to take part in a ‘terrorist war.’

The Somali dad-of-five was stopped at Schipol Airport last month after flying to Amsterdam from Liverpool, where his family live.

Mr Musa was released after three days and has since returned to the UK where he is instructing lawyers to take legal action.

He told the ECHO: “I was visiting my dad in Toxteth before I went from John Lennon Airport to Kampala.

“I was going for a holiday and to see my cousin.

“They arrested me and I didn’t know why. They took me off, put handcuffs on me and my hands against the wall.

“I asked what was happening and they didn’t tell me. They put me in a police van and took my shoes and clothes off.

“I was driven to a station and left in a room for three nights. They questioned me and said, ‘We want to know how you came here, where you are going and why?’

“I just told the truth that I was having a problem with my wife and I was going on holiday.

“After asking me lots of questions, they said I could go free. But they told me to go to London, not Uganda, as police at Gatwick would stop me there.

“When I got to London, MI5 were waiting for me and they took me downstairs and asked me so many more questions.

“The whole experience was a big shock.”

Mr Musa, who has five children used to live in Liverpool during the 1990s and currently lives in Middlesex.

A Rotterdam prosecutor said they had been told the suspect was heading for Uganda for the terrorist war.

Asked about Mr Musa’s arrest, and if intelligence received had been malicious, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “We are not prepared to discuss this.”
